How your data is stored
- Notes stay on this device by default. Signing in doesn't move them until sync is on (Cloud plan).
- Syncing copies notes to the cloud so other devices can read them. If two devices edit offline, the newer save wins.
- Uninstalling or clearing browser data deletes local notes that were never synced.

Encryption
Before you turn on encryption
- Encryption happens on your device. We never see your passphrase — so if you forget it, your notes cannot be recovered.
- Because the cloud can't read encrypted notes, search, transcription, OCR and AI don't work on them. It's max privacy or smart cloud features.
- To read encrypted notes on another device, you must enter the same passphrase there.
